Empowering Moms to Lead: Can I Charge for My Event?
Empowering Moms to Lead: Can I Charge for My Event?
A great question came up on an earlier blog post, and it’s one we think a lot of TrellisEd community members might be wondering about too…
User Question:
Hi! I’m new to the platform and just created a group to connect with other families in my area. I’d love to host a meetup at Rock Cliff Reservoir for Arbor Day and plan to provide seedlings and a hands-on learning activity for the kids.
When I was setting up the event, I noticed there’s an option to charge a fee. Am I allowed to charge $5 per child to help cover the cost of the seedlings and materials?
Thanks so much — just want to make sure I’m following the guidelines!
TrellisEd replies:
Hi there! — thanks so much for reaching out.
Absolutely — yes! That’s one of the things that makes TrellisEd so unique. We want you — the moms, the caregivers, the organizers — to feel empowered to build your own learning ecosystems. Whether you're organizing a park meetup, a seasonal celebration, or a hands-on class, you’re welcome to make it free or fee-based, depending on what works for you.
We understand that putting together thoughtful, enriching events takes time, resources, and love. Asking for a small contribution to cover materials like seedlings or supplies is more than reasonable — it’s part of what makes these gatherings sustainable.
In fact, this is exactly what TrellisEd is here for: to give families a platform where they can connect, collaborate, and co-create a vibrant learning life.
We’re so grateful for the ways you’re bringing people together and offering meaningful experiences for children and families in your community.
